Stopping Hand

Lan Shou

Also known as Fo Shou (Buddha's hand). Comes from Zheng Tianxing (17th century) from Henan province. He taught his style in Dawang Temple in Tianjin and since 1930 this style is spread in Shanghai and Sichuan province.

Main features: some hand intercepting techniques at middle and very short distance (the defender hand almost sticking his body), many Qinna.

Liuhe Quan Six combinations boxing

Three main styles have that name. All of them came from Shaolin Temple on Songshan. It is probable that it was first one style taught at the temple and later different students brought it back to their own home, starting a new (sub) style.

Main features: Many Tuilian (sparring exercises), many realistic qinna, some short deflecting motions.

Note: A style called Liuhebafa (six combinations 8 techniques) claimed to be a completely different style coming from a Taoist monk Chen Xiyi from the early Song dynasty (960 - 1127) but it is more likely from 1800's. This style is often classified within the "internal family" but may also have the same origin (shaolin) than all the Liuhe quan.
